Meet the 2024 Chevrolet Trax Crossover Coming Next Spring
The Chevy Trax is an SUV with a low starting price and snack-size dimensions. Chevy stopped Trax’s production run for 2023, but the compact SUV makes a triumphant comeback for 2024. The brand-new vehicle has a stunning new look, more space, and improved safety features.
The 2024 Chevrolet Trax uses the smaller Trailblazer’s powertrain and takes design cues from the midsize Blazer. It will be all-new inside and out. The 2024 Trax also comes with five trim options instead of just two.
The 2024 Trax will continue to be manufactured in GM’s plant in South Korea. Its low starting price will make it the third most affordable crossover on the market. You can expect the new Trax to arrive by spring next year.
Engine and Performance
Powering every 2024 Chevrolet Trax is a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 137 horsepower. This is the only available engine, and it only supports front-wheel drive. A six-speed automated transmission sends power to the wheels.
You can find the same powertrain under the hood of the Chevy Trailblazer. The new Trax is also expected to perform the same as its smaller sibling. The Trailblazer can go from zero to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds.
The EPA still needs to provide ratings for the 2024 Chevrolet Trax. For comparison, the Trailblazer, which shares the Trax’s powertrain, has a rating of 29 mpg for city driving and 33 mpg for highway driving. Due to its larger size, the Trax is expected to meet those projections or come in somewhat below them.
Interior
The interior of the 2024 Chevrolet Trax has undergone a thorough revamp. The climate controls and infotainment screen are conveniently located. The rest of the interior uses ordinary materials, which is typical in this price range.
The new Trax features a longer wheelbase than the previous model, which adds nearly three inches to the rear legroom and increases the load capacity. Technological extras like remote start, heated front seats and steering wheels, and a sunroof liven up the Trax’s interior.
Tech and Safety
Chevy provides an 8.0-inch infotainment display as standard equipment for the Trax LS and 1RS trims. This is already a larger unit than what was available on the most expensive model of the previous generation of Trax.
Standard on the LT trims and higher is an 11.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with an 8.0-inch gauge cluster. From the driver command center, you can control many of Trax’s new tech features. These include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Every 2024 Chevrolet Trax has the Chevy Safety Assist driver-assistance suite. The key safety features of this vehicle include lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Moreover, adaptive cruise control is an available safety feature.
When the 2024 Chevrolet Trax becomes available, you can expect to find it at Reed-Lallier Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC. You can take the vehicle for a test drive once it arrives in our showroom.
