Five Differences Between the 2020 and New 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

Every new version of a vehicle is expected to be an upgrade over the previous model to give you more features, better quality, and an improved driving experience.  The Chevrolet Tahoe has been around for a long time and it continues to get better.  The 2021 model year will begin the fifth-generation of the Chevrolet Tahoe to give us an impressive SUV that is bigger and bolder than it has been in the past.

The Chevrolet Tahoe will have a Diesel Engine

While the Chevrolet Tahoe has been built on a truck platform for a long time, it hasn’t had the engine variety you get in trucks.  Thankfully, a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel six-cylinder engine is being added to the mix.  This engine will offer 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque while returning up to 30 mpg on the highway.  This will be an engine that will add the performance we’ve been waiting for.

The Right Transmission for the Drive

The six-speed automatic transmission that was attached to the base engine in the 2020 Tahoe will not be carried forward.  Instead, all gasoline models will use only the ten-speed automatic transmission when the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe arrives.  This change should instantly allow the base engine to give you better fuel mileage for the drive.  You’re going to love the smooth feeling when you have additional gears in the transmission.

A New Independent Rear Suspension

The most important change to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is the addition of an independent rear suspension.  This suspension does away with the solid rear axle to give you an entirely new chassis that will offer a smoother ride and better handling.  This also allows the rear floor to be lowered which makes it much easier for you to load and unload the rear of the Tahoe.

More Rear Legroom in the New Chevrolet Tahoe

With the new suspension added, the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will add more legroom for rear passengers compared to the 2020 version.  The result is a gain of ten inches of legroom for those in the third row to make sure full-size adults can fit in this area of the vehicle.  The second row gains three inches of legroom as well, giving all your passengers more room for their legs.

Three New Trims are Added

The regular three trim levels that you’re used to will be offered for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, but you’ll see three more have been added.  You can enjoy the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, or High Country name when you choose this SUV and get ready to drive.  We might even see a Z71 Trail Boss model come after this first year of the new generation.
